No New Years Resolution this year: Why 2016 will be the best year so far.

I have several goals for 2016. They are not resolutions, they are goals. The difference? To me, resolutions imply finality, set in stone or an unyielding rule. Goals, on the other hand, imply to me a fluid, flexible and adaptable strategy for hitting a target. That is what I am striving for, to set my targets and find the best way to hit them. The methods and approaches need to be evaluated and adapted on a regular basis to keep the targets in view. I have set some basic goals for myself this year - 2016. They include:

1) To blog more consistently. Not just more content, but content that is encouraging and helpful. I am hoping this will do two things. First, it will get my focus onto positive, up beat and helpful subjects. I anticipate that this will improve my overall attitude and maybe even my health, as a positive outlook has been proven to alter brain chemistry for the good. Second, I am hopeful that it will be an encouragement to others. Our struggles are not unique, and sharing not only the circumstances but the victories as well gives others support, ideas and even the extra push to move forward.

2) I have set a goal to read some books this year. I know, that sounds kinda lame, but since I have not read a complete book in more years than I can remember - it is an ambitious goal for me. My goals is to read at least 4 books in 2016. My hope is that I will see several benefits from accomplishing this goal. First, to continue my education. Not my formal education, but rather a life enriching education. Second, Reading will exercise my brain by causing me to critically think about what I am reading and intentionally decide how I will let it influence my life. Finally, I am looking for the books to stimulate, challenge and inspire me to change my behaviors and consequently improve my life and circumstances. I have initially intentionally chosen 4 books that will challenge me in several areas of my life. I am looking forward to how I will respond to the challenges laid out by these books.
The books I am planning on reading are:

I plan on writing reviews on these as I finish them.

3) Last, but not least, My health. I am not getting any younger (duh!) and I have a few pounds to spare….. Okay, I have about 50ish pounds to shed, minimum. I am starting down the path with a health and wellness company that has drink mixes and supplements. That is where I am beginning, I will incorporate activity and exercise later on. My goals with regard to my health are to lose weight, eat better and more healthy and to encourage others to evaluate and take action with regard to their health. I am planning on starting a separate blog/web site focused on this journey and will announce it to you when I launch it.

So, What are your goals for 2016?
How do you plan on improving your life this year?
How do you plan on encouraging others this year?
