Disaster update 8-28-07

I stopped by the house to see how it is coming along. We are eager to get back n our own home, and get back to our regular life.
Here is what I found..... This first picture is what was (and will be) the kitchen, as taken from just inside the front door.
The second photo (taken after pivoting right just slightly) is where the living room will be again.
The last time we were able to be in the house (use it, not sleep there- we have not slept there since about July 16) was one month before these pictures were taken- for my birthday.... It is our sincere hope that we will be back in our house (finished and clean) for my oldest daughters 14th birthday - Dec. 4. - The chances are slim, but we continue to hope.
Our homeowners insurance policy is covering about 1/2 to 2/3 of the actual cost of the rebuild. So we are having to make up the difference, ouch. The insurance did cover all of the destruction and mold abatement. However, due to the house being built in the 1960's and this being the 2000's, we are forced to replace the plumbing, drainage and the electrical panel (to accomadate modern appliances and replace cast iron plumbing pieces)
Hey, if you feel charitable, then click on the "firstgiving" ad to the right and help out people who are in real need.... If you feel extra charitable, then click on the "Kitchen Disaster Recovery" chipin widget to the right to help us get back in our house. :-)
